SJW serves over 1 million people in the greater San Jose metropolitan area. Its 140 sq.mile service area includes over 2,400 miles of water mains and over 100 tanks and reservoirs. 

SJW is one of the most advanced utilities in the world in the use of predictive methods to understand pipe deterioration and underpin their pipe maintenance and renewal policies, namely in the optimization of their CIP investments.
