Meet the Baseform AI Assistant.
For the last 11 years we’ve been building screens in our software — maps, charts, tables, indicators, reports — to help utility staff understand their networks through their data, and generate crucial answers. Today we’re previewing a different way in: you just ask.
The Baseform AI Assistant is a chat inside the software. Ask it about your network in your own language and the answer comes from your utility’s own data and the analyses Baseform already runs. It is not an off-the-shelf chatbot pointed at water data. Like the rest of Baseform, it was built for water systems.
What it does best
Over the last few months we’ve put it through every question we could come up with. These are the areas where it shines, each with a question to try:
- Find revenue your meters miss. Which customer meters show the biggest change in consumption, which appear stopped or stuck, and which to replace first for the best payback.
“If I replace 1,000 customer meters with the shortest payback, how much revenue do I recover in a year?” - Send leak crews where the losses are. Zones whose minimum night flow sits well above target with no event open yet.
“Where should I send the leak detection teams tomorrow?” - Spend CAPEX where it avoids failures. Expected pipe failures by zone, material or individual pipe, and how many breaks renewing a given length would avoid.
“If I renew the 20 km of pipes most likely to fail, how many breaks do I avoid in 10 years?” - From alarm to action. Why an event was detected, in plain language, and the work orders around it.
“Why was event #309 detected?” - The product explains itself. Questions about using Baseform, answered from our own knowledge base.
“How do I close an event?”
It knows which network, app and period you’re looking at. Answers are concise, link to the events, meters, zones and work orders they mention, and end with a suggested next question.
Built on what Baseform already knows
The assistant doesn’t replace the Baseform apps. It is a conversational layer on top of them, and it is only as good as what it reasons over: data that Baseform’s Data Sync reconciles and validates continuously at each utility; our indicator engines, event detection, failure prediction and network models; and what we have learned working daily with a large number of utilities.
So it answers from your own data, checked and kept current, and from the analyses the software already runs: an assistant that thinks like a water engineer, because everything under it was built for water.

If you use Baseform, look out for the preview in your deployment in the coming days. If not, get in touch and see it on your own network.
