Portugal - Junior Data Scientist
We’re looking for two new team members to join our Data Science team at the Lisbon headquarters.
Baseform makes software for the water industry, used by cities providing water services to over 25 million people in the USA, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, and beyond. Our SaaS (Software as a Service) is used by water utilities themselves and we have an established product. Your work will reach people across several continents every day.

As a member of our Data Science team, you will be at the core of our software’s intelligence. You will be tasked with turning complex water utility data into actionable insights through rigorous analysis and the development of proprietary algorithms. You will work at the leading edge of the software’s usage, constantly interacting with the Product Development and Engineering teams.
Responsabilities and duties
Your day-to-day job will look like this:
- Big Data Analysis & Processing: Perform deep analysis and processing of massive datasets of different types
- Time Series - near real time sensor data
- Tabular Data - billing and maintenance records
- Geospatial Data - network infrastructure and census data
- Graph Data - network infrastructure
- Algorithm Development: Investigate, develop, and validate algorithms for outlier detection, predictive modeling and classification, contributing to our intense and continuous R&D drive to stay at the forefront of water system knowledge and applications.
- Cross-team Collaboration: Partner with the product development and engineering teams to ensure data methods are seamlessly integrated into the SaaS platform.
Criteria
Here’s what we need in order to consider you for this position:
- A degree in Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or similar field with a strong focus on data/algorithms.
- Solid programming skills for data analysis and statistical modeling, such as proficiency in R, Python, or equivalent.
- Good fluency in English is preferred.
